In Mozambique the country age network is called Forum de Terceira Idade. FTI was formed in 2001 with the primary objective of creating a network of all institutions working with and for older people. FTI’s purpose is to improve the living conditions of older people and guarantee the protection of their rights through the promotion of the Law on Promotion of Protection of Older People.
FTI is formally recognised by the government as the representative group of older people organisations and holds a formal consultative status with the country. They currently have 12 member organisations.
FTI is strong in the area of advocacy. In partnership with HelpAge and its partners, FTI conducted a successful advocacy campaign in 2014 for the approval of the Law on Promotion of Protection of Older People and its regulations
