Voice and accountability in Uganda's Senior Citizens Grant

The freedom to decide: what older people say about their rights to autonomy and independence

Everyone has the right to this autonomy and independence. But for many older people, the autonomy and independence they enjoyed earlier in their lives is denied in older age. At the end of 2017, HelpAge International coordinated consultations with 450 older people across 24 countries done by Age Demands Action campaigners and HelpAge global network members to explore what older people say about their rights to autonomy and independence. This blog describes the findings.
